Button Quail
Button quail are the smallest of all quail. They get about 4-5 inches tall. They are very active, moving all the time. When startled, they jump (boink) straight up.
For this, a softer type top/lid is recommended so they don't hurt themselves. Button quail come in a variety of colors as seen in these pictures. Their eggs take 17 days to hatch and chicks are fairly easy to raise. Using marbles or similar things helps prevent the tiny chicks from drowning. Many kinds of pens/cages are used for buttons; glass aquariums, birdcage, small animal cage, custom built cages and many more. A gamebird starter/crumble with high protein (24-28%) is one of the foods used for buttons. Mine enjoy snacks like mealy worms, greens, cracked corn, small bird seed and other stuff.
